Bizarre Trax are in the process of winding up to knock their third birthday out of the park and it is guest B.Love that is at the controls of their second release. It seems strange that the BT crew are only on the second edition of their vinyl only series and only three years into their sonic journey such is the impact they have had on the house music scene. Their up-tempo playful slant on house was a breath of fresh air when it arrived and B.Love’s supercharged funk filled house is dynamite.
BIZR002 is straight out of the blocks with A1 banger ‘Cool & Sexy’. From the very start the bumping bassline takes care of business and is so infectious that quickly sets about gripping the ear in the groove. Working in tandem with the shimmering pads and the trade mark punchy rhythms. The retro feel to ‘Cool & Sexy’ is further cemented by the filtered vocal stabs.
Sticking with the sample filled party starting is ’Magnum’ and keeps with the sun-drenched vibe to great effect. The use of the classic scratch works especially well and harks to the hip house era of the 90’s with a tidy update. Flipping over to title track the blown bassline weapon of ‘If You Like It You Like it’. More classic scratch samples litter the mix ensuring that the vintage house vibe and energy levels are maintained at peak conditions. Completing the journey and acidic wiggles of ‘Umbrella Vision’, so if you are looking for a raucous night of house and bass madness then make sure you enrol in Bizarre Trax’s third birthday celebrations at The Pickle Factory and the afterparty at The Goose.
