It seems the time is now for Swiss based artist Aron, who is making for a few career firsts musically. The back end of 2019 saw him release his first EPs on Bleu Ciel and Aku, a sub-label to Yoyaku who featured as one of the five labels we feel shaped and reflected the sounds of the last decade. Now he is almost ready to launch a record label of his own. The first release of Dinghy is set to hit stores later this Spring, with a four tracker from the man himself.
Aron has been holding down a monthly residency at Hidden Club in Switzerland, most recently being one of the first artists to contribute to the Hidden live stream series. Here you can find two hours of deep minimal featuring two of the tracks from the Dinghy debut. We have taken ‘Jerboa’ for the premiere.
It’s relatively stripped back, centred by a simple and delicate bassline. This deep, relaxed groove soon becomes complimented by a dancing synthline, while percussion flutters in delay across each beat. For the most part, spacey notes drift effortlessly in the background, interjected by short, choppy vocals. It’s playful, minimalistic and smooth, something which might be most welcome during a relaxing moment at the afters.
Energy builds as you delve into the release. A dark, driving force comes from ‘Cardio’ while over on the B side ‘Deviant’ injects some serious groove. Finally, the EP rounds off elegantly with the sweet ambiance of ‘Ann And The Elephants’.
As often can be the case with new record releases, Dinghy 001 has experienced some delays and is now expected to hit the shelves on 30th May. Pre-orders can be processed over at deejay.de. While you wait you can check out the recording of his live stream here.
