French DJ and producer Adrien Calvet releases his first solo vinyl EP after a good number of appearances on records this past year. He’s joining Barcelona-based imprint Simple Times for their second release, and delivers a five-tracker piece of classic house sonorities punctuated by acid notes and deep house touches. Simple Times is a Barcelona-based party collective and launched in 2021 their record label. Their first release feature Bernardo Mota, Bass Playah and Ezzy, and are now welcoming Adrien Calvet for Simple Times 002.
The first track of the record is actually called ‘Acid March’ and definitely takes us on a journey around the dance floor. Calvet kicks off the EP with a strong house bass, quickly joined by acid notes that will soon lead the whole track. He varies rhythms and sonorities like a ballad between deep house vibes, vintage vocals and much more upbeat and engaging rhythms. This track is a perfect mix of summer and fresh tones that prowess’s an immediate effect on a crowd.
The whole EP stays in the same kind of atmosphere, juggling between different atmospheres of breakbeat, electronic, acid and minimal. You can tell Calvet knows his classic and has been studying house music, as much as he knows how to break rules and make something new out of it. He is joined by American producer Asquith NY on the remix duty of the flip side for ‘House de Bassin’.
