Premiere: 3 – Factuaw – Spectre [SVRSR007]

Bulgarian artist Factuaw is next up to present his skills on Sous-Vide Records and with Octave and Lucide going before him and Maxim Thierry before that. Now on their 7th edition, the deeper lush side of the imprint has a great flow at the moment and Factauw’s four-track EP nails the space-tinged leftfield minimal path.

The Bulgarian swings into action with track 3 on the EP ‘Spectre’ and there is an intriguing mystical edge from the beginning. Deep bass tones repeat while acidic tones tweak and turn in the wind. The release notes go part of the way to explain the twisted vibe, “The EP is a lesson in spatiality, with breathing room created between the complex layers. Factuaw has forged a tranquil experience, with every note, click, clack and clap punctuating the listener’s ear as the sunken grooves carry you along the sedated journey.” There is a playfulness present but at the same the track really bangs and it could quite easily crop in sets at most parts of the day or night.

This dreamy yet insistent vibe carries on throughout the EP and ‘Incorporeo Levitating’ at the top of the release offers a blissful platform for spacey keys to dance across. ‘Grillos Posred Noscht’ makes great use of a noisy percussion sound that tumbles across ethereal pads and accompanying synth FX. Rounding out the release is ‘Slinky Walk’ and elongated flutes cascade over roomy percs while apparently riding the rounded bassline underneath.
