With outings already under his belt on a range of imprints, LA producer Nathan Katz opens his account with Rendr Records with a 4-tracker EP that is packed with tight grooves and bubbling energy that threatens to boil over.
We begin our journey through Katz’ “Get It? Got It” EP with “Don’t Confuse The Issue” and staying true to his energy packed creations he is right out of the blocks. Thumping kicks come thick and fast with the addition of some neat droplet percussion that help to add a natural air to the track. The deep undulating bassline underpins things nicely while the upbeat synth notes keep heads high. Track progression is kept to a minimum on purpose to ensure that momentum is never lost and it rightly never drops below a cool simmer.
Lead track “Get It? Got It” is even more upbeat and opens up the EP with an energy shot to the arm by way of the rising synth notes and airy bells. “Change Your Dreams” recalls moments of peaktime house bombs of the 90’s and the atmospheric synth washes enhance this mood. Completing the lineup is “Let It Move You” and the vocal snips keep the energy up alongside the tidy breakbeats and moody synth stabs.
