Long running Ukrainian label Whoyostro has been pushing groovey tech house since its first release back in 2013. The stable of artists that they have had at their disposal of the years is impressive and call artists such as Bodeler, Nacho Bolgnani, and Sakro. What Whoyostro do so well is that they push new and upcoming artists and next up for them on WHO300 is Thomas Garcia & Joluca and their ‘Just Watch Me’ EP.
Top of the release is boisterous title track ‘Just Watch Me’ and the cute vocal samples add a bit of sprinkling on top of what is an undeniably groove heavy bumpy number. The undulating bassline and arpeggiated synths get to work from the very outset and the snappy drums and boosted BPM really help this track to pop. The insistently tight rhythms work their way around the sampled vocals from Mason’s hit ‘Exceeder’ but conceptualised for modern floors.
Lubelski takes ‘Just Watch Me’ in a decidedly more bass heavy direction where the vocal is used in a slightly different way. The energy levels are still up there but with add deep bass for good measure. Joluca takes the reigns for solo cut ‘Time Again’ and the straight up house joint really suits the vocoded vocals snips. Thomas Garcia turns in a brooding dub heavy bomb in ‘October Dub’. Gritty synths help to beef things up and the smooth vocal licks from the unknown MC make this one of the hidden heaters on the release.
WHO300 is now available via Beatport.
