Premiere: 1 – Hyperspektiv – 5th Plane [ELMD1001]

A label from the mind of John Dimas is always going to provide standout dancefloor moments and his latest offering on Elephant Moon comes via debutant Hyperspectiv who appears on the digital side of the imprint.

The first track on the digital release is ‘5th Plane’ and in keeping with the labels intergalactic electro-funk ethos it opens up a typically naughty bassline that soon welcomes to the fold the blooming pads that work their way into the track and remain for the duration. The sparing use of the sweet vocals are a great addition and help to carry the track in unexpected directions. There is little doubt that Dimas himself has not already melted minds with this well-crafted weapon.

The second track ‘7th Plane’ utilises similar bass sounds to that of the first but really opens up the filter to more of a zap rather than a sultry well-rounded thud. There are more sexy vocals and they more than play their part here. As with the first track there is some great drum programming here which nestles in between the bassline and pads on show. Being the first of a series of LTD digital releases we are hoping that the frequency will also be quicker as an offering from Elephant Moon is always worth shouting about. You will also notice by visiting the Elephant Moon Bandcamp page that John Dimas has also made a selection of the label’s vinyl-only back catalog digitally available.

You can buy the ‘Fifth Plane’ EP from Hyperspektiv on bandcamp now.
