Premiere: 1 – Azire & Kas – Tell Me

London-based producers Kas and Azire join forces on a new independent EP in between minimal house beats and meditative vibes.

‘Tell Me’ EP is a three-tracker soothing piece that breathes different atmospheres. On a one hand, it has that intangible groove that stays with you all along and that would definitely keep a crowd moving. And on another hand, it draws out a deeper, finer vibe that just makes you want to close your eyes and enjoy the sound. The perfect duality of the EP may stems from what each producer brought to the table. They found the right balance and combination as Kas is very much drum and texture oriented and Azire looks for more melodic elements.

The first track ‘Tell Me’ particularly includes all the duality of these elements. Airy tones subtly slip in between the solid but light house beats, before a smooth female voice takes the lead of the piece for the melodic touch. The magic of this piece surely lies in the finesse with which each element is brought in and unfolds.

The mood slightly changes with ‘Think Of Me’ as we get into a jazzy and jam atmosphere, though still on a strong house bassline in the background. Led by drums and breakbeat, the track is getting hotter as the producers add subtle and sexy vocals in between the beats. This second piece has brought the vibe to the level up with its groovy atmosphere.

Last but not least, ‘Pressure’ is an echoey, minimalistic piece that gradually gains in intensity. More electronic than the two first tracks, this piece has a richer texture and a lot more elements to it. The track’s moody, key laden groove lays a perfect foundation for some new female vocals to appear behind the airy loops. “There is a sultry magic those female artist provide in their own way which we took and slightly manipulated,” said Azire. The duo masterfully implements their minimalistic approach toward house music, painting an introspective and imaginative picture that inspires and moves. Once again, the magic lies in the details, and in this one it’s about the subtle and unique tone.

At the time of recording this EP, Kas and Azire took the vibe from the various London boat, warehouse and forrest parties. “The music we were hearing there really stayed with us,” said Azire. “We were infused with deep, groovy, raw minimalist style of music.

Azire made a stand out entrance three years ago with the release of Jazz2Jazz, which he produced alongside Kesh under the name Xhz. He met Kas quickly after at a gig as they found a common ground with their sound which has allowed them to gel seamlessly on production. “We had many jam sessions at my studio and the vibe was always right, which helped us push through to finish the project you see now,” add Azire.

The EP is available on both of their individual bandcamps here and here.
