Jozzman Trax was set up by Jozef Conor, primarily as a platform for releasing his own music. Coming from Melbourne, Australia, Conor already has a steady stream of releases since the first in January this year, some of which have been hitting number one in Beatport’s ever celebrated Deep Tech charts. Now it’s time for the first VA, for which he has invited a handful of friends and fellow artists from the scene to put together.
Retza has been making a name for himself as one of Australia’s shining lights and we’ve already seen him release on well respected labels such as Lee Burridge’s All Day I Dream and Watergate Records. It makes sense that an artist making such waves in Jozef Conor’s hometown would be included.
Light and warm from the off, Galaxy (Like This) has a deep, rolling groove that combines with a simple percussive swing to make the people move. Smooth pads ooze euphoric notes up and down throughout while fun melodies dance sweetly over the top.
The elements continue to build as the track progresses. The breakdown allows for the introduction of more jagged and energetic synths that would have a full room pumping at peak time. The vocal sample is simple and fun, although I challenge you to recognise exactly what is said. All in all, a pleasant edition to the world of melodic deep house.
