Vacuity Records return with their third release, another VA showcasing hot and diverse talent from all corners of the globe. The label launched just in time for Christmas back in 2023 and has since seen support from the likes of Z@p, DJ Koolt, Adi and Jane Fitz.
These ones are only available on wax, despite the 1000 EUR price point to bag a digital copy on Bandcamp. Jokes aside, Vacuity are on a mission to spread music that promotes deep connection, and the sound of spirituality, from both the international and the up and coming.
Another four artists join together on the “Chiron Key” EP including Luca Ruiz, Cakkou, Monile and label owner Paola. The record boasts a blend of dance ready beats and introspective sounds with steadier energies. We’re presenting more of the former, a raw groover from Moroccan artist Monile.
‘Rebound’ glides through darkness, a deep bubbling techno track steadied with a minimal beat – as fierce, as it is hypnotic. Pulsating bassline keeps the pace, while tapping hats trickle faintly in the back. The journey goes down into the depths, as wamping fuzzy synth notes stretch through space. This one is ripe and ready to fill a dark room, made for marching through murky realms.
Listening around the rest of the wax, it’s a rather epic opener as label head Paola speaks an inspiring intro, over the raw sounds of Luca Ruiz, setting the tone for the introspection that will follow. Paola’s speech captivates, bringing together the notion of connectivity over a tantalising blend of ambient and electro.
Cakkou follows with ‘Missed Call’, picking up the pace with a driving beat that oozes acid into twisted techno. Then it’s back to Ruiz, starting off the B side with ‘Safari FM’. Stripped back electro, bringing breaks together with percussive swing.
Each track on this EP prepares you for the next and whilst the wax makes options for the dance, you can gladly listen to the whole thing in a full sitting, one track after the next.
