SPHERART Records delivers another instalment of their ART series with an action packed VA. Included in the teamsheet is a crew of artists that count Andy Somoza, Aka Juanjo, Marino, Jpg., and ffrvnco as part of the crew.
We kick off with man of the moment Shkedul and his techno chops have been more than recognised by the more electro fraternity of late. “Conventional” is anything but conventional in its approach to the dancefloor as he bombards the floor with detuned bass tones and raw percussive elements. The hypnotic vocals and stripped back nature of the track are 100% designed for maximum party damage.
JPG. on B2 follows suit with “Nuclear Warning” and the repeating synth notes that underpin the whole track is surely a warning to all that something big is coming. Thankfully it is not all out thermal war just yet, but you can just imagine this being played if we ever do get to that stage. Closing out the VA is ffrvnco whose track “Nocturno” is just as impactful. Noise snares and stripped back grooves also look to herald the arrival of something big and dark. Making the case this time is the repeating 303 synth that injects the energy that is needed to really elevate this track and allow it stick out in any pack.
Flipping back over to side A and Andy Somosa returns to our pages with “2509”. This atmospheric heater includes elements of techno, electro, and of course house in its most upfront form. Vocal clips add to the already hypnotic musings, and the rib cracking percussion hits just right. Aka Juanjo also makes another welcome appearance with “Tokio” and the blown acid synth is enough on its own to make pulses race. Marino wraps up side A with “Gaucho Trancero” with just the right amount of nod to the early trance era.
