Sasha Pervukhin (or sometimes also Alex Pervukhin) whom you should recognize from his Laconica label, is starting a new one, called Pixel. The orientation is simple – modern, dancefloor-orientated house music, with a little twist. The twist is – the Ukrainian voice should be presented on every release. It’s a bit unusual, but until Peggy Gou started singing in Korean, it was unusual for the scene too, and a good track is a good track in any language, right?
The main track from the first release, that we’re having today, is called “Mariya’s Trip” – it was planned to feature the voice of the legendary Ukrainian singer Nazariy Yaremchuk’s daughter, Mariya (she’s also a singer), but it didn’t work out. For now. At least, with this release. Instead, you will hear the voice of Sasha himself, probably, for the first time. To be honest, I’m a big fan of the spoken word inside the track. Like this one – the only thing, I wish it was longer, 7-8 minutes instead of 4:28. If THAT big amount of Ukrainian language is too much for you (but why?) – there is also a dub version, that sounds like Sasha’s signature banging house track.
And even more – the record starts with “I Call U” – a delicate quirky banger for your fist-pumping during the dance. And also on the A-side – “Victim”, another vocal take from Alex, this time a bit longer, also with fewer words, dubby, but at the same time, very powerful. As almost every track from his “house” productions.
With this release, Sasha has established himself as a part of Carpets and Snares family since Pixel is a sublabel of Carpets and Snares Records. Not a surprise, considering how Jorge Caiado loves and supports Ukraine. But, that’s the news.
You can go straight to Carpets and Snares store for this beauty since the pre-sale has started already. When you have the opportunity to buy a house track with Ukrainian vocals. And – one more thing – all the proceeds will go to Ukrainian donation initiatives, there’s still a war going on, don’t forget.

This article was written in Ukraine. Ukraine is in the middle of the war with Russia right now. Would be great if you could donate to the biggest Ukrainian volunteer fund here. Also, you can pick any music initiative, that is also trying to help from our list here. We’ll be stronger together.
