Discobar welcome French artist Cez to shape the label’s 11th release.
Cez has crafted a distinctive and charismatic sound in his two releases, providing the sought-after inaugural release of Paris based High Ends imprint, and later contributing the label’s fourth instalment. In the same way, Cez supplies two fresh moods for Discobar’s latest output.
Sounds drift between irregular and hypnotic broken beats in both cuts. The title track ‘Streets of Sau Paolo’ carries a warm, heavy low end, with twisted vocals stretching and reversing over light, elegant hi-hat patterns.
The B-side continues experimental motives with an increased vocal tip and dusty jazz-like drums introducing darker atmospheres. Female voices drown in reverb before being rescued by expertly arranged sequences, as if drifting in and out of consciousness.
Both tracks evolve steadily across a full side of vinyl, achieving a tense yet tranquil mind trip.
