Known for the taught groovy party-starting grooves that populate her myriad of DJ sets found around the world tINI’s own label Part of Gang Records very much carries on in this vein with the imprints second release.
After her own ‘Human Lung Chair’ EP kicked off her imprint in style she welcomes long-standing friend and hotshot artist Bodeler to her gang with his 3 track ‘Feed Me Weird’. Kicking off the release with A1 ‘Ridrum’ Bodeler takes aim at the dance floor with neat percussive patterns and as is the theme throughout it features snappy snares and hats to combine with the loose African drum work.
Next is our pick of the release and B1 ‘Bom Gates’ fits perfectly with the ethos of the label and certainly this release looking to take the listener and dance floor in unique and weird directions. Opening with almost a hummed female vocal which is accompanied with modular noodlings before the signature crunchy beats and thick bassline give the track some context. An unexpected inclusion is a small sample from Justin Timberlake’s ‘Sexy Back’ which adds a touch of familiarity amongst a sea of modular static which was a nice touch.
Closing out the EP is B2 ‘Klepex’ a looped vocal groove combination that will also do great things on the dance floor due to the hypnotic feel of the looped vocal demanding that you “concentrate on the rhythm and the vibe”. With each of the 3 tracks featuring pinpoint accurate drum programming and production this is a classic slice of minimal tech-house worthy of being Part of the Gang.
