Only a few weeks have passed since we had the pleasure of presenting music producer and Cymatix co-founder Anah, as part of our trommel x AlphaTheta series. The Barcelona based artist launched her label with Lumiere last year, welcoming LVCA to kick things off with his Time Perceptions EP. Almost 12 months on, it’s time for the second release and this time, Anah will take the centre stage.
Her musical background is a testament to the knowledge and skill that forms the basis of her music making. Being a dedicated piano player and long time lover of electronic music brings together the fine arts of a more classical sound alongside beats for the floor. This is well represented in her Floating EP, which features club ready tracks that come polished off with a downtempo remix for good measure.
The B side welcomes ‘Floating on Space’ and it begins with the Club Mix. From the off it thuds a plodding bassline, dripping with fuzzy electro. Droning voice cascades of outer space, as a feint unsettling creeps in from deeper chords, twisting within a more forceful percussion.
Despite the deeper undertones, this is building into something raucous. As the buzz electrifies, dashings of melody swirl over tripped out vocals and a myriad of movements. Naughtiness takes hold, grounded by a warmness that keeps all afloat despite the string of deviance that remains. And when it’s all over, the Downtempo Mix is on hand to offer its own introspection. Fuelled by the futuristic, totally trip inducing and all the while packed with groove.
