Alex Pervukhin is back into the vinyl territory after a little pause with his debut release on Mr.Banger label. In this release, hugely affected by the ongoing war in Ukraine, you can hear VERY different styles of his production, some of them are really from another era.
For example, our today’s premiere, “The GB Track (Goodbye Mix)”. Alex’s locals, friends, and family have known it very well for a long time. How long – well, one of its versions was premiered on this mix on Rinse France EXACTLY 4 years ago, so you can count on that period, probably. Four years… It means, it was made not only before the war, but before the COVID-era too. Do you remember those times, at least? But, enough of that nostalgia, let’s get closer to the track. If you remember Alex’s Laconica label, it should probably send you to its first releases. Delicate, minimalistic, still banging pieces of tech-house. They almost don’t make those anymore (and I kinda miss those productions, to be honest).
“TYSK Problem” is definitely a nod to Alex’s TYSK project. But, hmm, why “nod” – the track was actually produced for it at the beginning, then turned into a self-made piece of banging ravey breakbeat-house. With a huge lean onto breakbeat territory. It’s a-side neighbor kind of collects both of the worlds here. “M1N1” has that massive-but-still-minimalistic production, like the B1 does, but also that ravey mood of his later releases, like A1 here. It would still be perfect for the middle of the house set for a huge crowd. The last one here is definitely not for me, but if you are a fan of downtempo, you’re gonna love “Coming Down Da Spaceship”. Something with hip-hop beats and trippy ambient at the same time.
Mr.Banger already proved that releases on this label are made to be played a lot. So, if you’re having some space in your DJ bag, and don’t know, what to put there – Decks, Viniil or hhv are already waiting for you.
