Premiere: A2 – Tommy Vicari Jnr – 4 Accidents (Modat Revamp) [JJW004]

Rising label Johnny Johnny Records keeps the series of good releases with a fresh new EP featuring Tommy Vicari Jnr, one of the UK’s key producers for more than two decades, and a remix on one of the tracks by the label’s owner Modat. With the likes of a:rpia:r, Sweely, Ricardo Villalobos, or Sonja Moonear having recognized his talent either by remixing or playing his tracks at notable events, we are now here to enjoy his latest work.

A rhythmic, housey bassline marks the start of our featured track on side A2 – “4 Accidents (Modat’s Revamp)” alongside eerie vocals making their way in as the piece goes on. With a linear trajectory, the track sets the mood for a long ride of dark-infused sounds and vibrations, with its precise yet playful kicks, and refined reverberations. A simple, yet effective recipe for success.

With computerized synths rather reminiscent of those nostalgic old-school video games, “4 Accidents” on side A1 takes us on a nostalgic journey infused with a mood of longing and a desire to dance and get lost in the moment.

Flipping over to B1 – “Hosed Sonata” offsets a great party starter on a minimal, darker note, with its linear bass line and gentle kicks, setting the mood on the dance floor for the rest of the night.

“Surely U Jest” on side B2 feels like a follow-up on the previously crafted storyline on the last tracks, pumping up the energy with a fiercer and darker start, ensuring that whoever listens to it will not leave the dancefloor early.

Hosed Sonata EP will be officially released on the 10th of May and until then it can be pre-ordered here.
