Maai Records is back with a new split EP, featuring quite a lineup of talents.
On the A-side, Peruvian trio SINM (JJ Beteta, Alonso Bauer, and Stefan Cukic) delivers a triple threat. The standout track, “Got The Data,” is driven by a strong bassline and plays with broken rhythms at first before settling into a solid 4/4 beat, making it today’s pick.
“Layers” from the A-side plays with the breaks even more, blending in some videogame lore — familiar territory but if it works – it works. “Wonky Aftermath” rounds out the trio’s contributions, leaning into broken rhythms and primed for pairing with minimal tracks.
On the B-side, Javier Carballo, under his Look Perry alias, opens with “I Can’t Love U,” a hazy, atmospheric track that balances calm and energy throughout. The side is completed with “Stone Pilots” — just like the A3, top-notch minimalistic and broken joint.
Pre-orders have been live for a while; check Deejay, Subwax or Redeye for updates.
