Premiere: A2 – Otrera – Cheronca Ay (Sueezo Remix) [SUCRE01]

Hailing from the picturesque city of Valencia, the Spanish masterminds behind Sucre Discos – F.R.E.D.Y and Lemonphase aka Julio, are taking a decisive step forward with their label and joining the world of wax with their very first vinyl release. “Cheronca Ay” EP is a collaboration with Otrera, an emerging Argentinian talent on his debut, who crafted two original tracks, each accompanied by a remix from local star Sueezo and Bolivian force Aka Juanjo.

As we start off with our premiered track, Sueezo’s reinterpretation of “Cheronca Ay” on A2, we notice right away his inclination towards a dubbier territory, reenvisioning the original. A bouncy bassline and vibrant, pulsating rhythm keep the groove ongoing and maintain its dark, yet captivating allure.

A groovy bassline anchors the title track on A1, while the clave-driven rhythm holds its spirited pattern. Subtle dynamic shifts keep things fluid, while the groovy chords reinforce its infectious vibe.

We flip over to B1, where housey piano keys phrases meet an electro-tinged groove on “Kofrádica”, with the keys guiding the track’s trajectory through an extended breakdown. Snare rolls and cryptic vocal samples add tension before locking back into the rhythm.

A hefty, rolling bass mullet sets the foundation of Aka Juanjo’s perspective of “Kofrádica” on B2, while loopy vocals bloom during the break, adding atmosphere to the dancefloor-orientated track.

A strong debut on vinyl, “Cheronca Ay” EP is already sold out soon after its release. Keep an eye on deejay.de for restocks to secure your own copy.
