Beeyou Records shape an all UK-cast for their fifth release.
The Ibiza-born imprint from Laidlaw & Jamie Mannion has seen the fruits of a workhorse output in recent years. Countless releases spread across their three outfits Subee, Pollen and Beeyou have surfaced across the vinyl market as well as their Bandcamp channel, receiving support from the likes of Rhadoo, SIT and Pedro, who played Xhz – Jazz 2 Jazz from BEEY003 at Sunwaves main stage during the RPR Soundsystem set.
London producer and DJ ADMNTi has been a supporter of the label’s work since inception, covering Joe Rolet’s ‘Stock’ in a recent premiere, as well as regularly playing amongst the label’s selectors in the capital.
Without denying obvious influence from the pioneers of minimalist dance music and supporters of the label in SIT and Pedro, ADMNTi demonstrates the complementary fusion of the London sound with minimalist frameworks.
Regularly playing alongside the likes of Raresh and Einzlekind at Half Baked showcases, as well as overseas, the UK artist has formed a slick sound influenced by both the capital’s energy and the global nature of dance music.
Snares are short and snappy, bustling beneath clever bongo samples and a mean bassline filled with attitude. Slick, heavily swung hats bring a peak time, garage edge to the tune, destined for peak time dance floors.
Le Louche and Mehlor bring a neat organ banger to the releases A1, alongside previously premiered Temperature boss Casey Spillman bringing the funk on the flip. Joey Jackson offers a deeper tip to conclude the EP. Warm chords work with textural percussion and a cosy low-slung bassline.
