Over a year has passed since we premiered the second release on Ibizan label SVDR. The platform has become the desired outlet for the makings of Jacobo Saavedra and Jay Nortown. The Spanish duo, also known as JNJS, have been busy working away on the third release for the label. SVDR3 is primed and ready to hit the record shelves in the coming weeks.
Following a chance meeting at Pikes in Ibiza, the two artists have gone on to form a strong friendship which has developed into something even more fruitful. A synchronised interest in similar flavours of minimal has initiated a joint venture in the studio which is delivering in full force.
JNJS doesn’t stop at the studio doors. The pair are now playing together across clubs in Spain, taking it from the likes of Underground in Ibiza to Calypso’s Malaga beach sessions. But new tracks continue to be served. Three originals are en route with a remix from Jamahr – we’ve got ‘So Sick And Tired’ on the premiere.
The record opener sets a pleasant scene. Luscious grooves pulsate in a determined bassline, riding a steady beat primed for peak time. It’s just the right blend of playful, settled with whistling synths dancing tune to the serious tones driving force underneath.
Narrative drives elegance, a nod to something sexy, sampled from an all important scene in Wolf of Wall Street. Vocal is electrified and elegance becomes power, as textured melodies are gathering in throbbing synth.
The two artists have served up another fine beat and there’s more where that came from across the rest.
