Ibiza-based label MATE LTD returns with a third EP signed by resident of the island Jyoel. For the occasion, he’s joined by talented artists on the remix duty. Added to the record: two duos, four artists, eight hands. The duo JNJS aka Jacobo Saavedra & Jay Nortown are giving their own interpretation of the original track ‘Dreams’, featured on the A side, and the Romanian duo NFTO take the lead of the B side with their remix of ‘The Power That You Are Not Using’.
The first track of the EP, original track ‘Dreams’, is a groovy minimal piece, between breaks and acid influences. As airy tones subtly slip in between the light house beats, a smooth voice starts to whisper in our ears to the rhythm of the bass.
Ibiza-based duo JNJS brings a solid touch to the track, while at the same time lightening it. They’ve added subtlety touches, extended the beats, and particularly emphasised the acid feel of the piece. You can definitely hear the duo’s imprint on this piece: a bit more micro-house influenced, and particularly club-oriented. It’s actually been heard that this track has a direct effect on the dancefloor, as it’s already been played in big events by Arapu and Tania Vulcano in particular.
The EP continues with Jyoel’s track ‘The Power That You Are Not Using’, a soft piece that is building its intensity through time. As it starts slowly and delicately, it still has this groovy atmosphere that would make you move, eyes closed. NFTO’s version is way more direct and straight to the point. He operates his magic by still building on an aerial beat as he draws out a deeper, finer vibe to get the piece hotter.
MATE LTD aims to showcase the talented producers on the island of Ibiza, and has already released two outstanding records featuring Jacobo Saavedra, Dave Hang, Toni Moreno, Alexis Cabrera or the mysterious [øne+1] artist, to name a few.
