As they approach their ninth release, I think it’s fair to say that Spanish label Rooted Series do just about everything right. Their compilations are well spaced out and released whenever they’re ready. The label also pays special attention to underrated talent and rising stars, meaning the music does the talking for the name.
Rooted Series 009 follows this theory well. On the A side we Lotos Vacos associated Javier Carballo’s with his track ‘Jacking’. The title of the track is very much an indicator of what’s in store.
The base drums are pounding throughout and the snares are lightning fast and represent that choppy tech-house sound that the Vatos Locos crew are known for. However, the track isn’t all base drums and snares though, with a beautifully designed esoteric-sounding synth accompanying the track throughout.
The EP also contains dancefloor slammers from the likes of Carlos Sanchez, Bolumar and Moises, all varying in styles but each track designed with care and implanted with groove. No matter what your preferred style or genre is, these tracks are bound to find a way into your record bag.
