Barcelona-based label Sunet Curat returns for more electro-leaning action on the second instalment of their musical journey. Javier Carballo, Dromia, Enem, and MACHI will provide the ammunition.
Straight out of the blocks is Spanish maestro Javier Carballo, who is on blistering form with A1 track “Dope Holes”. Taking a slightly different tack to the rest of the EP, Javier treads a finely balanced line of punchy grooves and sublimely weighted atmospherics that seem to slip and melt into the next mind-bending direction. This sets the stage perfectly to progress to the peak of the release.
Moving on to Dromia and “Enigma”, and with the lighter tones of the VA opener soon fallen still, we head towards heads down territory. The repeated bassline and accompanying synth line grow in intensity with each passing bar, and once this pressure builds to its final stage there is a satisfying lull before the drama is built up again.
Next is label founder Enem, who delivers more trademark weapon-grade electro techno with “Keep Safe”. Keeping the musical influence succinct, he rounds on a grinding, acidic bassline that is more than capable of testing the integrity of any club foundation. Closing out proceedings is MACHI and “vamo y yemo” and there is no time for dropping any energy built up from the previous additions as the acid synths and robust basslines.
