Brand new imprint Menikmati launches with clear sign of intent as they present two sterling originals from Homebase as well as a remix from none other than Priku.
Priku’s remix of the title track “Mayon” is a classy affair from the off, with the original version being a much more upfront offering, Priku opts to strips things down and rebuild the track with his own magical touch sprinkled over. A driving bassline sits at the heart of his reworking and in true Priku fashion the groove is as infectious as ever. Pristine percussion is also a well-known hallmark of this Romanian’s work and it is clear why he has been drafted in to help launch Menikmati.
Over on the original version of “Mayon” and Homebase ensures that the grooves are just a little more pronounced. While the beats are hitting heavily in the lower sections of the frequency range, he employs an ethereal pad synth to temper the rest of the track. As well as the Priku version the bassline is also very important here and maintains the funky, dancefloor direction of the music. He completes his first EP for Menikmati with even more energy with “Layton” and the pumping nature of the track signs off the EP in great style. Shuffling percussion keeps things on the hop throughout and the wandering bassline will surely have just the right impact on the dancefloor.
