Sequence Records is a new record label from Rabat, Morocco. Their debut split EP, Cyber Alien Communication, splits HearThuG and Cybercafé inside. Of course, we had to get our hands on it.
Our pick is from HearThuG’s side. “Bleep Bumps Bleep (Sex Mix)” is a solid slow-roller on the edge between electro-house and, you guessed it, bleep. Slow, mysterious, chunky – everything we like.
Another one from that side will be “Moonrush (Original Mix)” – this one is a bit faster and a bit more electro-housey. The lovely vocoder does its job perfectly here too. Cybercafé’s side is ready with a bit deeper sounds. While “Hyperdrive” still could be considered a banger here, “Katorza”, in comparison, sounds a bit more serious. But still jumpy and ready to play at any given minute.
In case you’re curious – a few words from the crew about their start also: “Sequence Records originates from Sqnc collective, which was created by Adam Dirk’heim, back in 2018. The intention was to create a space for the local artists to express themselves musically which was non-existent back then and surround them with top international selectors.
For the past few months, we’ve been working on merging Sqnc collective with 3 other Moroccan collectives to create one big organization of passionate people, to be able to push the local scene and organize events all across the country. It is called ECHO7000, and it was born a couple of weeks ago.
Also, for the past couple of years, we’ve been wanting to showcase Adam’s music to the rest of the world and to create a platform where artists from Morocco and the Mena region are welcome to share their music. This collaboration between Adam and Jihed (aka Hearthug) was born in 2022 at Fabrika Festival. Jihed is a very important part of Sequence Records coming to life because he committed to sharing his music with us when the label was still an idea.
Adam is the founder and creative mind behind Sqnc collective and now Sequence Records. He is also a passionate DJ and producer and has been collecting records for the past 10 years. Cybercafé is the alias he’s chosen for this series.”
That’s it – the record is ready and waiting for you at Juno, Deejay, Decks, or any good record store. You should know what to do with the links already.
