For its sixth outing, Eloelo Records invites Italian duo Nicola Brusegan & Steve Hammer, two long-time collaborators whose sound has been steadily evolving in their home base of Venice. Their latest EP features three originals that delve into deep, dubby textures while leaving space for experimentation, rounded off with a remix from the label’s founder, ELODIE.
Both Brusegan & Hammer have been releasing music for many years, landing EPs with the likes of Black Box and Chikyu-u Records. In their latest EP, moods shift across various shades of their minimal language.
In this premiere, we turn to ELODIE’s remix of ‘Suker’. Steering away from the denser feel of the original, her version strips things back into leaner, more agile territory. Slippery percussion threads across the track while experimental vocal textures push it into slightly psychedelic terrain. A no-nonsense bassline keeps the energy firmly on the floor, while the arrangement leans towards the kind of minimal moods you’d expect to hear stretching out at Sunwaves.
‘Fat’ is driven by a hefty, rubbery bassline and a moody undercurrent that feels tailor-made for peak system pressure. ‘Space X’ brings a lighter touch, weaving melodic synth patterns with tripped-out vocal snippets and a rolling groove. ‘Suker’ locks into a more hypnotic framework, a functional but textured tool with their trademark balance of drive and depth.
With Eloelo already counting contributions from CHKLTE, Peter Pixzel, and Michael James across its first run of releases, the label continues to hone its vision: stripped-down, raw and groovy music that favours subtlety over spectacle. Last year, we covered Michael James’ contribution to the label, crafting chunky tech-house that has seen heavy play since it’s relesae last year.
ELODIE’s remix underlines that ethos, sharpening ‘Suker’ into something nimble and functional, with just enough personality to stand apart in the mix. The London based artist is finding her feet within the tech-house realms, pushing on with the label as well as regularly playing at the likes of fabric and Starlane, as well as a string of growing international gigs.
