Trommel.213 – Mella Dee

Few artists can lay claim to starting a party brand at Glastonbury, but Mella Dee is no ordinary artist. With his recently formed “Nothing Stays The Same” events are more like a call to arms than an extended dancing session. Mella’s parties feature OG selectors, much in the same vein as himself; they tread their own path and are a constant source of inspiration for their peers and fans alike. We have not even begun to discuss Mella Dee’s musical journey, which has taken in a great many sonic influences that have seen him stop off at rave, techno, broken bass, and of course, house music in all its groovy variants.

Now, more than a decade down the road, Mella has again taken his sound back to the drawing board and has emerged with a raft of heaters that have already been lighting up dancefloors. Whether it’s his own string of parties that have so far taken a slew of UK and Ireland hot spots as well as the fabled Pikes in Ibiza, SlapFunk in Amsterdam or Gottwood, he always brings the heat.

With this new direction dialled right into Mella Dee, we are thrilled to welcome him to our podcast series. You will struggle to find a more upfront recording that Mella in full flow and with stripped-back groovers takes pride of place during his nearly two-hour recording it is clear why he is such a prized selector on the world scene. For a snapshot of where he is headed at breakneck speed keep your eyes and ears peeled for his long-awaited EP for SlapFunk and of course his appearance at our OFF Week party at Les Enfants Brillants.
