With Cocoon In The Park sadly throwing their last event last year at the truly scenic site of Temple Newsam Park just outside Leeds, this legacy has now given way to a brand new 2-day festival called Newsam Park. Taking the format that Cocoon In The Park created over 11 strong years Newsam Park has now far extended this to continue this tradition of large scale events. Taking place on Saturday, July 11th and Sunday, July 12th Newsam Park 2020 will collect together a wide cross-section of the world’s finest artists and program them across 2 days and 2 distinctly different stages.
With each of the 2 stages being looked after by gargantuan Funktion One sound systems Leeds mainstay System will be programming The Garden Stage and on Saturday, July 11th and will be headlined by old friend and gatekeeper of Temple Newsam Sven Vath. The Cocoon boss will be joined by Jamie Jones, Enzo Siragusa, Gerd Janson, Voigt.mas (Voigtmann and John Dimas), Annie Errez and Bobby O’Donnel. Over at The Lake stage, there will be sets from Denis Sulta, Mella Dee, Moodymann, Nightmares on Wax, Dan Shake, Foz and Johnny Sleight.
On Sunday, July 12th the big hitters just keep coming on strong as The Garden will be bouncing to the sounds of Dekmantel regulars Hunee, Palm Trax, Call Super, Young Marco, Danielle, and Annie Errez. For those that favour a more stripped back direction to their music, they will not be disappointed as The Lake has in-store performances from some of the biggest stars in the scene to see out the maiden weekend of Newsam Park. Needing little introduction to Leeds and of course, fans of System is a man that almost epitomizes minimal that man is Ricardo Villalobos. Joining the Chilean is one of his students Romanian Raresh, Fuse London boss Enzo Siragusa, members Rossko and Archie Hamilton, Desolat boss Loco Dice. Completing this fine line-up is mobile men of the moment The Ghost and Leeds very own Bobby O’Donnell gives the stage the home turf touch.
As I am sure you will agree that is an out of this world array of artists to pack into one weekend, but that only takes care of only 2 of the 5 festival pillars. With all this musical action, you will need to make sure your body is full of the energy required to go the distance and that is where Feast comes in. Over the course of the weekend, there will be countless food stalls from local vendors all filling the site with the sights and smells made to make your mouth water. To really transport attendees for the day a collection of Art installations will litter the festival site contributing to a truly immersive experience and this will all take place in the Natural beauty of Temple Newsam Park Estate where the lush green fields, woodlands, and waterways are the perfect place to explore and discover what is to be an adult’s playground filled with wonders at every turn.
