Trommel.208 – D’Julz

It is hard to imagine the French house scene without the undoubted influence of D’Julz and having inspired a generation of diggers he continues to do the business in the studio and on the road. Having been active since the mid-nineties D’Julz has been pivotal in the progression of high-grade house and techno with just the right amount of funk and tech.

We can’t discuss D’Julz without mentioning his genre-defining imprint Bass Culture Records and its lineage is just as impressive. For the eagle-eyed followers amongst you, you will have noticed that D’Julz has recently gone full circle with the rerelease of one of his first-ever records. Since this track first hit the decks back in 1995 he hasn’t looked back and has legitimately helped to shape the underground.

With every house head worth their record collection there is little chance that they do not own either a D’Julz or Bass Culture Records piece of wax and so being able to present a mix from the man himself was long overdue. Being able to stitch together tracks that are both stripped back, yet deeply soulful is an artform, not a skill. For the next 90 minutes, sit back and pour over a finely crafted through the many facets of a true hero of our scene.
