Trommel.163 – Luciano

It is impossible to imagine the minimal landscape without Swiss / Chilean maestro Luciano. From the moment that Lucien Nicolet turned on his machines and penned his first tracks he engrained himself into the history books of music. Not just electronic music either, his indelible mark can be felt across the full spectrum and that comes by way of his genre defining solo productions, mind melting remixes, and enchantingly charismatic performances.

We could be here all day talking about Luciano’s productions, but stone wall classics have become the calling card of this trail blazer. Tracks such as ‘Alpine Rocket’ on Perlon, his remix of Argy’s ‘Love Dose’ and, Robag Wruhme’s ‘Wortkabular’, as well as his seminal Cadenza imprint are just the tip of the iceberg of his legacy. So, it is with great anticipation that we announce Luciano’s debut for our mix series.

As you might have guessed this mix is a masterclass in understated minimalism, flecked with jazz infused elements, crunchy drums, deep bass tones and flashes of the South American flare that has informed much of his labels’ output. Bursting with his own productions all expertly stitched together to form a tapestry of emotions. This may seem like hyperbole, but Luciano is a true originator that, perhaps without his obvious influence might not have given way to the various strains of minimal and its stars.
