We have waxed lyrical about un_Mute and their serious event programming, and with very good reason we might add. That was until we clocked their Art Basel program. For the uninitiated, Art Basel is an art fair that is held in Basel, Switzerland, Hong Kong and Miami. It has been running since 1970, that’s 51 years by the way, and it has been growing and growing in stature and is now one of the most revered events of its kind in the world.
With the actual art fair running at Miami Beaches various art galleries there is invariably off parties in much the same way as Amsterdam Dance Event and Sonar. It is very much these off parties where Un_Mute thrive and this year they have literally pulled out all the stops to create a five-day program of events that is so big it is close to eclipsing Art Basel.
Starting on Wednesday, December 1st they go in at the deep end with My Own Jupiter head alien Nicolas Lutz and Titonton Duvante. What else can we say about this night? Next level business all the way pretty much covers the first night of Art Basel. I repeat the first night. The next night levels up considerably with Un_Mute collabing with Link Miami Rebels and Space Miami to witness the return of a certain Ricardo Villalobos and he will be joined by a whole cast of insane artists that includes Luciano, DJ Koze, Taloboman, and Maher Daniel. We hope you are taking your vitamins because at this point Un_Mute is not even half done with Art Basel.
If you didn’t catch Ricardo last night make sure you are front and centre on December 3rd as his old pal Zip is flying in for a special B2B set, courtesy of a joint partnership between Un_Mute, ReSolute and Electric Pickle. The Perlon originator will be packing his usual heat but with the occasion being Art Basel this deserves an extra special performance and there is no doubt that these two titans will deliver. Supporting the party will be old friends Maher Daniel and O.BEE who will be bringing that New York flavour. The next night and there is something special casting off in the Biscayne Bay and who else but tINI and her gang at the helm. Invited by the Miami outfit together with their New York friends ReSolute, she will be presenting her infamous boat parties and will be roping her old pal Dyed Soundorom to bring the heat.
As if all that has gone before is not enough there will be a 24 hour rave taking place at 94th Aero Squadron on Sunday, December 5th. This will be again a collab between Un_Mute, ReSolute and Electric Pickle and will result in Where Are My Keys? Signing off Art Basel in the best fashion imaginable. At this point they have only announced phase one of the event but it already includes Craig Richards, Powder, Will Renuart and Zip. We cant even fathom where the programming will go from there but insane unannounced guests have been confirmed and they are just waiting to share them with you. Just make sure you leave your car at home and hitch a ride on a passing spaceship instead.
