There are few people in our community that do not know the name Janeret. From his tireless work as a peerless member of the Yoyaku setup, to his countless releases on top labels such as Aku, Tartouffe, Drumma, Up The Stuff and of course his own Joule imprint. Janeret is an absolute master of the smooth minimal house sound, but that is not all that he keeps in his locker as his this live mix from Soundscapes festival will attest.
On any given weekend, you can find the Frenchman weaving his way through a great many styles and moods while in control of the soundsystem. Even just in the last few months he has ticked off Antwerp, Barcelona, Montreal, Toronto, Lyon and Ibiza on his wide ranging travels. This packed schedule is of course a regular occurrence and the remainder of his year is in the process of filling up quicker than the dancefloors he commands.
It is on one of these international jaunts that we have tracked down Janeret and we lucky enough to have been gifted the live recording of his performance at Soundscapes.bh in Zanzibar back in July. From the first mix, it is clear that the dancefloor is under his control as he shifts between shimmering paddy minimal house, through punchy techy moments and of course peak time house. Sit back and cast your mind to the sandy beaches of Zanzibar as Janeret takes care of the rest.
