Subsonic Music Festival is one of Australia’s most celebrated. Set just outside of Sydney, the revered status that the three-dayer beholds has comes thanks to a well-primed recipe. Wide-spanning programming, which covers a dynamic selection of sounds – catering for music lovers of house, techno, reggae, funk and everything in between. A musical spectrum, held within the serene setting of the Monkerai Valley, nestled amongst rolling green hills by the banks of the Karuah River. This pairing of natural wonder and a dedication to top-quality music has fostered a vibrant community spirit. A magic that has only become more prominent as the years have gone on.
Fifteen years throwing events of this scale is by no means an easy feat. Building an ever growing following which keep coming back for more is key to the success, even amongst the industry challenges that have been faced in recent years. This year is not just a birthday, it’s a reflection on just how far the team at Subsonic have come. And with that, it promises to be a one of its most exciting editions to date. Blending the sounds that have helped shaped the festival over the years, with the growing artists of the future.
The festival runs from Friday 29th November – Sunday 1st December, in the heart of the Australian summer. A perfect moment in time to enjoy the stunning surroundings and outdoor frivolity. Communities camp together, meaning the base is set for the weekend. That escapism we crave begins from the very first moment.
Musical offerings set for the weekend shift cross multiple genres. Each session compliments the next and despite each variation, quality remains across the board. Headliners are not holding back, as world renowned talent will be making the journey from the west. Perlon master Zip will be joined by label stalwart Sammy Dee, bringing the deep, bubbling minimal for which they are so well known. Radio Slave brings a darker slice, a veteran responsible for some of the most revered productions of the last decades.
You can also catch the likes of Toman, Gene on Earth and Anthea next to .Vril, Polygonia and Giegling’s DJ Dustin. With more artists still to be revealed. Thanks in part to the carefully curated selection of stage partners, which include none other than SASH – one of the hottest Sunday sessions known globally. Return to Rio, GiRLTHING, Club 77 and Bare Necessities Collective will also be joining.
This of course, is just the icing on the cake. Bands and DJs from all corners will feature, with a focus on rising talents. It’s as much about the up and coming as it is the long time heavyweights.
We attended the tenth edition of Subsonic Music Festival back in 2018, which was described as nothing less than a “kaleidoscopic escape through music and art”. The sense of community and inclusion from past editions is undeniable and the team behind it only aim to amplify for the next. New experiences and surprises are in store, with an intention to make this anniversary edition unforgettable. If past editions weren’t already so…
First release tickets sold out in record time, however you can still bag second release. Don’t wait, as sales are moving fast. Flexible payment options are included.
