Italy’s Sound Department is heading to Berlin for a 16-hour showcase at ZENNER.
The Taranto-based collective was started back in 2012, establishing a reliable presence in the local community. Their showcases span a variety of tastes, bringing together various micro-music scenes for unique events.
Debuting in Berlin, the crew have invited some of the finest selectors from the fringes of house, techno and electro. Two floors will welcome 14 artists across the 16 hours, kicking off at midnight on Saturday, December 9th and running through to 4pm on Sunday.
The main room sees techno heavyweights like Charlie Sparks, DJ Hyperdrive and a live set from the prolific VRIL. The second space ‘Jackzone’ is where things get spicey in terms of diggers delights. Berlin-based Londoner Christian AB brings his elegant bag of gems, alongside two Uruguayan selectors.
Nicolas Lutz is joined by fellow Phonotheque regular Oriana. The now Barcelona-based artist has been refining her craft for several years now, leading to an excellent podcast for RA, alongside a steady gig schedule. The Uruguay energy will be sure to bring a fiery side out of Christian AB with extended sets for all involved.
Sound Department outline their project as a cultural movement, “resisting the fast evolution of “mainstream culture” and where creativity, individuality, and openness can always be found on our dancefloor.”
