Leeds has always enjoyed a love affair with music of the stripped back variety with many UK protagonists having a strong hold in this city. Ruckus24 is one of those strongholds and they have brought many new school faces into the fold. Artists such as Arapu, Priku, Voigtmann, Rossko, Burnski, Christian AB, Sugar Free, Subb-an, Tristan Da Cunha and more have all turned out for this crew and they will be expanding this reach even further with their next event on Saturday, May 27th at brand new event space TESTBED.
Taking charge of the sounds for the momumentus May Bank holiday party will be two contrasting yet complimentary artists in Shonky and Arapu. Neither artist needs an introduction for even the most occasional reader of these pages as the groove packed jams from Frenchman Shonky and Romanian Arapu are well documented. Both artists are regularly called upon the blow up the dancefloor and with both artists shining at the recent marathon mashup that is Sunwaves it can be taken for granted that the music will be next level.
Following in these two stars footsteps is Simone Ellis, a rising name from Manchester, Simone Ellis has flexed her record bag at various high profile parties that include a Sunday session with Paravibe at fabric and of course multiple appearances for Ruckus24. This talent also extends to her work in the studio which has resulted in finely tuned two self-released works via her Bandcamp. Completing the line-up is Ruckus24 resident selector Eleanor, who has shown the Ruckus faithful what she can do countless times and is set to warm the dancefloor to boiling point.
Now that everybody is caught up with who will be providing the beats we need to give special mention to the venue that will be hosting for the evening. Coming from the collective minds of the bods that run Leeds institution Sheaf Street comes the creative blank canvas of TESTBED. A brand new 800 capacity warehouse space that has endless possibilities and will be put through its paces when Ruckus24 unleash their Under The Mezz event later this month.
