Ibiza has just opened its gates again for another mind-bending season of adventures and Amnesia will be welcoming back one of their longest running residents Ricardo Villalobos back to his beloved home of the Terraza. The stone DJ booth has always been one of Ricardo’s favourite haunts and in the process, has given a big room haven for minimal sounds.
His residency will begin in earnest next month where he will play the massive opening party and the crew behind Pyramid have something rather special in store. The date you need to mark in your diary is Sunday, 11th June and he will be taking care of the music for a large part of the party by playing b2b with long time cohorts Raresh and Franco Cinelli. The three artists have played many b2b’s with each other but perhaps not all together, so it is fair to say that this will be a hell of a way to open the season. Also on the bill will be Nima Gorji and Cuartero.
Ricardo may not be playing on Sunday, 2nd July, but in his place there will be the deadly team of [a:rpia:r] and close affiliate Praslea. Between Rhadoo, Raresh, Pedro, and the Praslesh member the Terraza will be under the spell of all sorts of minimal leaning sounds from open to close. The next occasion to catch Ricardo in action will be Sunday, 23rd July and with the summer season really hotting up by this point a BIG lineup is required. This remit is more than matched by the team of Maher Daniel, Sonja Moonear, and Caal.
Fast forward to Sunday, 27th August and yet another huge party is on the cards. This time there will be a range of back to back team ups in the shape of Arapu b2b Priku, Maher Daniel b2b a special guest, Ion Pananides b2b Alex Pott, and Ricardo will play an iconic b2b with Luciano. With not many Pyramid Sunday’s to go and an extremely mouth-watering prospect looms on the horizon on Sunday, 17th September. Joining Ricardo, Raresh and a b3b between Thomas Station, O.bee, and Jonny Rocks will be the legendary DJ Harvey. This matchup of styles will be extremely interesting and again proves that the magic of Ibiza is still going strong.
It is hard to imagine yet another Ibiza season coming to a close before it has really even started but if you are planning a closing party then look no further than Pyramid on Sunday, 8th October. Having become one of the biggest duos from the minimal scene since they began trading tracks their combined sets have become huge events and Caprices and SUnwaves can attest to the magic that exists between Ricardo and Luciano. Closing parties are always a special time in Ibiza and so having an artist of Enzo Siragusa’s calibre as warmup is a luxury not often afforded to a regular club event. Also, appearing will be long serving Amnesia resident Mar-T and Gialuca Pegoiani. There will of course be all manner of techno and big room goings on in the Main Room across the season, but if you are after minimal this season in Ibiza on a large scale then look no further than Pyramid at Amnesia when Ricardo and his Ricardistas are in town.
