MOGA Festival returns to Essaouira this October

After a successful edition in Caparica last month, MOGA take to Morrocco’s Essaouira 4th-8th October to bring their signature selection of quality artists and warm vibes.

Last year’s Moroccan get-together saw the likes of Lee Burridge, Petre Inspirescu, Sonja Moonear, Vlada, Francesco del Garda, DJ tennis, John Talabot and Soichi Terada all taking to the stunning Souiri oasis for a good old knees up. Celebrating both international and local artists, the line-up was stacked with native Moroccan selectors showcasing their sound.

Starting out on Essaouira’s scenic shores, MOGA OFF will take place on 4th & 5th of October with MOGA IN booting off on the 6th, seeing out the remainder at Sofitel Essaouira Mogador Golf & Spa.

The first phase of artists who will appear for MOGA IN at Sofitel has been dropped and already leaves little to the imagination. With A Guy Called Gerald, Guedra Guedra, Jayda G, Peach, Maurice Fulton, Malika, Quest, Portable, Oceanvs Orientalis and Prins Thomas all being welcomed to the fold, things are off to a very strong start. Not to mention the addition of Molly, Limousine Dream’s Gene On Earth, Quest, Perlon mainstays Margaret Dygas & Maayan Nidam, Romanian visionary Rhadoo and veteran selectors tINI, Fumiya Tanaka and Dyed Soundorom, appeasing tastes of minimal and house & techno persuasions.

This first wave also sees a power of Moroccan artists joining the bill, we recommend checking them out and seeing the wonders the local scene has to offer. Hot off the back of her Trommel podcast and having seen her track ‘Belle’s’ released through our TFD free download series, it comes as no surprise that Monile has been carving herself a spot in the house and techno scene with inimitable grooves and tasteful selections. Through appearances at Fabrika festival, and his own nights sqnc. and Malice, Adam Dirk’heim has landed a spot right on our radar through merit of his selections, bookings, and any of you familiar with his old productions will know he is a very talented artist all-round. Don’t let yourself down by missing any dark horses, get to know the line up inside-out.

Stage 1 line up reveal has us itching to hear the remaining artists appearing at MOGA, but, as you have it, good things come to those who wait!

Having seen 15,000 festival goers gather for their Portuguese edition, MOGA Essaouira is set to welcome 16,000 people to the city all under the shared desire to discover, share and experiment across the festivals 5-day duration. MOGA aim to showcase a host of electronic flavours, celebrating local and international culture. Held at a UNESCO world heritage site and blessed with that sweet North African sunshine, things are already sounding utopian. Now, throw in some of the world’s finest DJs and live acts alongside a host of local heaters, open parties, art, performers, and a plethora of wellness activities, talks and top-notch food. Sounds like a perfect recipe for some seriously good times.
