Into The Woods: Ten Years of Underground Community

Few event brands in London’s underground scene have remained as quietly committed to their original spirit as Into The Woods. Launched in 2015 as a secret party series rooted in the forests, warehouses and industrial spaces of East London, the project has grown steadily over the past decade into an internationally recognised events brand, artist agency and record label — all while holding firm to the values that shaped it from the start.

To mark ten years, the team is returning to where it all began. Part One of the anniversary celebrations takes place on Sunday, 28th June at Crate Brewery in Hackney Wick, just a short walk from the canal-side spaces that hosted some of the brand’s earliest gatherings. It’s an intentional choice — intimate, grounded, and built around the artists and community who have been part of the project since its earliest days.

Headlining is Rupert Ellis, one of the label’s earliest digital releases and agency signings, whose productions have earned support from respected figures across the underground electronic music world. Joining him are residents KRIF, T.NA and TODD, alongside Darush — founder of All My Friends, one of Hackney Wick’s most cherished record stores and community spaces. Local favourites Who’s That? & Friends complete the bill.

The event runs from 1PM to 9PM, with 50 free tickets being made available ahead of a limited allocation of £10 early-bird tickets. And, in keeping with Into The Woods tradition, a secret afterparty somewhere nearby is not out of the question.

Over the course of a decade, the brand has welcomed artists including Petre Inspirescu, Praslea, Priku, Shonky, SIT, Traumer, Francesco Del Garda, Dan Andrei, Voigtmann and many more, while hosting events at Fabric, FOLD, E1, Printworks, Village Underground and beyond — with international showcases stretching from Berlin and Paris to Barcelona, Prague and Leeds.

Founder and director Nicholas Petrou reflects on the journey, “Into The Woods has always been a labour of love. We started out running parties in forests, warehouses, basements, bunkers and even under bridges across East London. The scene was completely different back then, and as minimal music exploded globally, so did Into The Woods. Ten years later, returning to Hackney Wick feels like coming home. This anniversary isn’t just about celebrating what we’ve achieved — it’s about celebrating the community, artists and friends who helped build Into The Woods from day one.” Nick goes on to say, “As we launched in the underground scene, as we grew with artists and our crowd’s safety and managing people’s well-being was the most important part of growing our brand and that’s the reason for moving into the club scene more so the underground.
