Time and time again TRMNL have proven themselves as promoters. The Birmingham party have hosted some of the finest talents in the underground house and techno circuit over the years. For that reason, they continue to feature in our pages. In more recent times they’ve had the likes of Adam Shelton, Subb-an, Raresh and Sonja Moonear at the helm. And despite the current clubbing hiatus, they are back in the headlines once again with the launch of a new record label. East End Dubs has been invited to take charge of the first release and we’re premiering ‘Talk To Becky’.
The London artist has been a regular player on the TRMNL lineups and has become somewhat part of its extended family. So it makes sense he would step up for this debut. ‘What’s Going On’ EP comes with three tracks, all primed on a deep shaded red record.
‘Talk To Becky’ on the B side is a bassline roller from the off, so much so said bassline gets complimented with another, as deep, growling notes interject a sound percolating with grit. Warm synths cruise ahead while darker notes jab vigorously, winding up the momentum. This high energy falters only for a second at the breakdown; for the most part this is full marching mode. Dropping this one is a sure fire way to light a big warehouse space and get the place pumping.
The record was released on 4th June and sold out within 24 hours, hitting the number one spot on both Juno and deejay.de in quick succession. You’ll be hard pressed to find a copy of this one.
