After shining on the recent Rockets Audio imprint French artist Roluce appears on our radar again. Having featured on Aprapta Music, Heisenberg, Work In Progress under his ROAR alias, and a clutch of respected podcast entries Roluce is a man with many hats.
Next up for Frenchman Roluce is his four-track solo ‘Rogustine’ EP and it features the vocal talents of several artists. We have A2 ‘After The Fact’ in full as our premiere.
‘After The Fact’ has serious swagger from the get-go and the heavily swung percussion and mean sub bass line are a sign that Roluce means business. The pitched vocal musings from Kamal Imani add even more attitude to this A2 weapon. The ride hats add a bit of a curveball to the sonic landscape but this is a rock-solid banger.
The remainder of side A belongs to the ‘Yes’ and the breathy words resonate around this detuned bleepy high energy bumper. A wonky banger if ever there was one that will drive a dancefloor insane dropped at the right moment.
Side B begins much more subdued than side A finished and muted congas revolve around Roses Sabra’s honest thoughts. ‘Honest’ gives more than a tip of the than hat to the orginal South American sound of Cadenza and the flutes and trumpets seal the deal. This groove continues on ‘Lost In The Morning’ and Igor Pose contributes to the musical journey that unfolds and comes to a jazz flecked close.
The ‘Rogustine’ EP from Roluce is now available deejay.de.
