Circa Groove are back with their next release. The east London based record label will be showcasing the sounds of label owner Rupert Ellis, to mark release number seven. It’s the first time the artist has released a solo EP on his own.
The label have hosted a cast of underground talent since its launch back in 2020. They’ve been on the Trommel radar since the beginning, when we premiered from Rhadow’s Beneath EP, which made the very first release. We continue to be impressed by the platform, who have since featured the likes of Terrence :Terry, Djebali, Politics of Dancing, Jerome.c and Vlad Arapasu.
Ellis opens his three track Pilgrimage to Paradise EP with ‘Don’t Stop!’. Kick drum powers from the off. A subtle groove carries through the deep bassline, chugging along steadily with the beat. Melodies breathe in atmosphere, synth lines drifting softly around the steady rhythm. Percussion is driving this one, layered with a determined drum pattern and tapping cow bells along the top.
Short snappy vocals circle in sync, building intensities alongside lifting chord progression. As the beat bubbles, acid stabs dance, echoing vibrantly along the bars. Energy is captivating, building in presence as the tune moves forward. This is one for moving a crowd closer to boiling point while approaching the later hours in the club.
Liquid Earth joins on the remix, completely revamping the original into a heavy breakbeat hitter.
Buy the release from Beatport now, already released and ready to go. Check out another Ellis special due for release at the end of the week, this time on the wax for WINDER.
