The first vinyl output from London-based label and party, SHIBUI, is a slice of groove-laden, housed-out goodness from head honcho, Panno, as he lands a top-notch 4-tracker that perfectly captures those early deep house vibes.
Kicking things off on the A1, we have title track “Illusions” a deep, hypnotic track that ebbs and flows as it flirts with elements of trance and classic house tunes. A retrospective take with all the finesse of modern production. Laid-back house motifs lead the way with some gated screams acting as a catalyst, really reinforcing the groove. Next up, A2 “The Unknown” gets right down and dirty, packing some relentless, driving subs and basses. This naughty low-end content is matched with stripped-back drums and a plethora of undulating synth stabs, vocal shots and FX, oozing high-octane dancefloor energy.
B1, “Sweet Rhythm” heads back to basics with a fat kick and perc setup whilst a sleazy bassline and downright cheeky stabs to do most of the heavy lifting. This one is primed for the late hours and will no doubt do the damage across many top spots this summer. Rounding things off nicely is B2, “Yokai” which takes a breather, delivering those afterhours vibes with floaty pads and synths that swell and sing like a bird. This ethereal trip keep it light and groovy across the board as it sails through the clouds, a strong conclusion for a top release.
The release has seen a warm welcome already with early support from the likes of Fuse, Locus and Beeyou – if you thought it sounded familiar, you’re not wrong! SHIBUI are currently offering a promotion that gives you a discounted ticket link for their 1st birthday celebrations at infamous London party spot, Star Lane Pizza Bar.
