MADVILLA recently scored a big hit with his EP on Seb Zito’z Seven Dials imprint and dropped a banging podcast for LOCUS. The London based Cali artist returns to his own Hot Wings for another upfront slab of peak-time house.
Now on to the fifth edition of Hot Wings the double dose of bouncing groovy house will explain why he has become such a usual suspect for some of the finest names on the minimal tech-house circuit.
There is absolutely no time wasted in getting down to the groove and MADVILLA’s penchant for clean pumping drums is a standout on A1 cut ‘Based’. The beats are suitably stripped back to give enough space to the acid-tinged bassline that blooms and contracts over the course of the track. The x rated vocals more than give the right amount of swag to the groove and the old school trumpet stabs hit the right balance of old and new. The vibe is white-hot on ‘Based’, so it is little wonder why MADVILLA has been getting support from the Fuse London family.
The B-side ‘Step Up’ is just as tidy and treads a very fine line between deep house and pumping house. The filtered organ, crunchy snare, and slick grooves bounce off each other nicely.
The EP will shortly be available via MADVILLA’s Bandcamp page.
