Something special just cannot be rushed, and with the long awaited arrival of Juaan’s dynamite release for Rawbeats Records the wait has been truly worth it.
For some time now Juaan has been at the fore of a new generation of Argentine artists bringing a fresh attitude to our scene. This attitude spills over into this release for RawBeats and the A1 track “Decihden” really sets the tone with a huge bassline and slightly sinister synth line. There is no chance of losing track of the groove as the rib cracking snares will make sure of that. Following up in quick succession is “Fui Do Por” and those trademark hard hitting drums and pitched down bass tones could easily soundtrack a nightclub scene in a stylish horror movie.
Flipping over there is no denying that this is a Juaan record, the detuned bells and pitched down bassline of titular track “Knt” builds a huge suspense until nothing more than a thumping kick and a sparse hi hat is needed. It is not until around half way through the track that the beast is unveiled. The bassline is transformed and the snares coming crashing in signalling a new phase for the dancefloor via the shrill synths.
Completing the package for RawBeats latest outing they have handed Juaan’s track “Knt” to another electro powerhouse DC Salas. Being no stranger to this apocalyptic bass route, he turns in a super wiggly rendition of the lead track. Fully loaded with dystopian damaged grooves, the tension he builds throughout the track is almost tangible. So when he finally lets the track do its thing…brace yourself for impact.
