We can’t teach it, but we can make you feel it. Cologne collective HOOVE are already well versed in delivering such feeling as their motto suggests. The German city they hail from has a bustling electronic music scene which continues to grow. Michael Mayer‘s longstanding Kompakt label was born here and dance spots include lively, intimate venues like Gewölbe and Artheater. The latter of the two has played host to Hoove’s own event series and the party is now blossoming into a record label. Resident DJOKO is taking the controls for the first release.
DJOKO has been front running HOOVE events cross Cologne and Berlin for several years. He has also released on big labels like PIV and Berg Audio. Clearly on a roll, we recently invited him to join our podcast series for which he provided a ream of unreleased productions specially for our listeners.
‘Off The Remmy’ is bursting with energy from the off, driven by a strong percussive force that has you wiggling at the hips before the bassline has even begun. This one is oozing old school feel, from the catchy melody of the bass to the striking, rave like chords welcomed in the first breakdown. The track is short and sweet, so little time is wasted before the main elements kick in.
The intensity of the rave is complimented by dreamy organ keys full of warmth. In the middle, the big break down transports it back. Percussive build is blended, which makes this hands in the air moment one that would make for a rather large reaction on the dance floor. It’s fun, straight up, housey business.
