No Time County founder Robin Ordell has been working rather hard behind the scenes of late prepping his brand-new label and the remit is simple – forward-thinking dancefloor music from him and his mates. What else do you need really? For the first release on NTC Robin has opted for a VA highlighting his solo production style, his collaboration with Bruno Schmidt as Asper Bothrops and Rudoh joins in too.
Leading out with A1 bomb from Asper Bothrops the hypnotic ‘Track 21’ centers around a neatly curated percussive groove with some excellent low-end action underpinning the track. Riding hi-hats are a great addition as are the sparse synth wiggles that filter in and out of view. The simplicity of the track belies the near 10-minute run time as it is massively hooky but in a quite spectacular way. This is definitely the kind of track that could play all night long and still not tire of its off-kilter laser zaps and subtle house bassline.
Leaving ‘Track 21’ to spread out over side A, Robin Ordell takes charge of B1 with ‘Backwash’. A lush tech houser with tasty shades of the ’90s with vocoded voices, synth washes, and chord stabs that are tailor-made for those early hour moments. Rudoh completes the release with a similarly lush musical direction featuring outstanding drum samples, rich soundscapes, tidy vocal processing, and the effortless groove that will surely become the label calling card. A great start along the label journey from Robin who has all the dancefloor knowledge to take his imprint in exciting directions.
