Font Recordings, one of the newest labels on the market, is a cool project founded by Matthias aka Anderst, and Sebastian Klasen, two passionate DJs and producers who decided to unite their forces and dedication to music and took it to the next level. Based in Stuttgart, the label aims to bring “the rawest, most authentic vibes straight from the source” and so far, they’ve certainly kept their word.
Since their inception in 2023, they released six carefully crafted digital albums, featuring artists such as Annéke Laurent, a:side, Droove, Jonaku, NAAiv, and Denis Skok. And now we’re gonna talk about their 7th release, featuring no other than British legend Tommy Vicari Jnr, a regular presence on Trommel, and rightfully so. For Bad Choice Overlord EP he created four groovy minimal bangers, each with its own vibe and story to tell.
Our premiered track for today is “Viz a Viz”, the third track on the album, an animated and joyful track that not only makes you dance but will surely bring a smile to your face, too. With its slightly oriental influence from the beginning and its rhythmic vibrant organs that flow seamlessly throughout the piece, no one will sit down on this one, for sure.
“Bad Choice Overlord”, the album’s title track has a more intriguing and mysterious allure, with a linear and precise trajectory that gets you lost in your thoughts. It’s got a bit of that 2000s vibe, and with its computerized synths and subtle kicks and percussions it teleports your mind right into the middle of an early 21st century rave, somewhere in an industrial hall surrounded by like-minded people who are just having fun, no phones in sight, just good vibes and great memories.
