Spanish vinyl outfit ‘Dreams on Wax’ celebrate 3 years of releases with a tasty VA.
Veteran heroes and newcomers alike join forces to mark the Madrid-based label’s third year of existence. And in fitting-fashion, following 3 years worth of output and amassing an impressive catalogue, the curation of artists follows suit as they collaborate to furnish Dreams on Wax with an impressive 12-track V.A. compilation.
Known-names Furz, CHKLTE, Kirik, Nacho Bolognani, Octave and Alffie grab the eye but don’t let that fool you as the standard does not drop across the release. Deep and driving dancefloor delights across the board, as is synonymous with the DOW sound.
We have decided to premiere the second track from the release, courtesy of Ibiza-based duo, JNJS. Consisting of Jay Nortown and Jacobo Saavedra, their project sees the culmination of their commitment and passion for the sound as they perform and produce in tandem under their new moniker. The pair have collaborated on a series of releases since they began working together and this year saw a stacked selection of appearances on the island and we will no doubt be seeing more come 2024.
‘Blue Paranoid’ pours one shot of acid, 2 of late 90’s tech-house, a dash of trance bitters, shaken with a sweet selection of percs and an infectious bass line for good measures. A real recipe for some darker hours dance floor action, this combination cocktail is set to rock dancefloors in a host of settings, all hours of the day and night.
There is zero filler to be found in this VA, but what you will find is a large swathe of styles. From the riddim filled inclusion of Mateo Dufour’s “Go Ahead”, deeper cuts in CHKLTE’s “Baggage Claim”, James Bott’s “1027”, and Nacho Bolognani’s “Clap Your Hands” all are way above box ticking.
Punchy club-ready moments also come thick and fast too and Alffie’s “Sakabo”, and Furz’ “Do The Beat”, and there are more than a few vocal gems in the form of Kevin Toro’s “Bikini Martini”, Kirik’s “Change Have Come”, and Valerio Mazzoli’s “Touch Me”. To complete the package there is also room for the utterly hypnotic movements from Octave & Micah Fish’s “Full Moon” and finally Simo & Marish’s “Curva”. And so completes this rock solid collection of artists and their impressive additions to the Dreams On Wax legacy.
You can pre-order the VA from the label Bandcamp page.
