Premiere: 1 – Lukey – Infinite Quest [TATAMI002]

After the resounding success of the opening to the label, bossman Lukey returns with another four tracks bristling with character and his now trademark upbeat energy. This is a factor that has already seen the Barcelona based artist’s stock rise and the second edition has just dropped.

First of all we take aim at lead track “Infinite Quest” and the feel good vibes are already baked into the opening moments of the EP. The straight up groove with a skipped hat flip takes care of propelling the track onwards but it is the walking bassline that really injects the energy. Primed and ready for the coming months of open air parties, the emotions the piano recalls are undeniable and will connect even the loosest of dancefloors every time.

“Next Time I See You” benefits from a more break infused rhythm but with a darker 90’s house vibe but the energy levels remain in the upper tier. Flecked with electro notes, the vocals demand dancers take the track’s lead to respond with more swagger and it could not be a more fitting request. Next is “6pm In BCN” and influenced by his roots in the city, the crisp percussion and deep probing bassline help to capture the unique energy of one of Europe’s staple music scenes. The sun drenched pads and key stabs are tailor made for the barrage of open air gatherings that will now litter the city’s rooftops, parks, and private villas from now until the end of the summer.

Rounding out another top edition from Roundhouse is another punch packing house bomb in “Rambla 303”. Dialing up the emotive, Lukey is well equipped in being able to transfer from the dancefloor, into the studio, back again with his twist on things. The nicely distorted synth stabs add the right amount of attitude to temper the euphoric aspect of the track.

TATAMI002 is now available on the label Bandcamp page.
